Global goals
Our project "NOVAVISION" is dedicated to promoting educational equality through innovative technology, with a special focus on using micro:bit to create low-cost safety solutions, enabling virtual reality education to be accessible to students in resource-scarce areas. In terms of safety challenges faced by traditional VR education, we ingeniously used micro:bit to develop an economical and practical anti-collision system. This system uses ultrasonic sensors to detect the surrounding environment in real-time. When a user gets too close to an obstacle, it immediately triggers audio and visual warnings, effectively preventing potential collision accidents during immersive experiences. This design not only significantly reduces safety risks but also achieves the safety functions of commercial-grade VR equipment at a very low cost.At the same time, we integrated the micro:bit's heart rate monitoring function, which can track the user's physiological state in real-time. This innovation allows teachers to remotely monitor students' concentration levels and physical conditions, achieving truly data-driven teaching. When the system detects that students are fatigued or under excessive stress, it automatically sends reminders to ensure health and safety during the learning process. Most importantly, we combined micro:bit with smartphones to create an affordable VR solution for everyone. Through this innovative design, we successfully reduced the cost of VR equipment, which often costs tens of thousands of Taiwanese dollars, to a few hundred dollars, allowing even schools in remote areas to easily introduce virtual reality teaching. This innovation not only solves the safety threshold of VR education but also breaks through economic constraints, allowing more students to explore astronomical knowledge through immersive experiences, truly achieving the popularization and promotion of quality education. We believe that this low-cost, high-safety design concept will provide a practical solution for promoting SDG 4 goals.
Promote educational equality through innovative technology, allowing virtual reality education to be accessible to students in resource-scarce areas.
