Our project

Students designed a stabilizing utensil device to support individuals living with Parkinson’s-related tremors. The device uses gentle vibrations to help steady hand movements, making it easier for users to manage daily tasks such as eating. With interchangeable parts that fit different types of utensils, the innovation promotes independence and dignity by allowing individuals to eat with greater ease and confidence.Throughout the design process, students partnered directly with a Community Partner who has Parkinson’s Disease. By conducting interviews and learning firsthand about the challenges of hand tremors—particularly the difficulty of using standard utensils for proper nutrition—students were able to design a solution that is both functional and deeply responsive to real-world needs.

Our inspiration

Students worked directly with a Community Partner that has Parkinson's Disease. Through their interviews, students were able to learn more about the challenges that hand tremors causes this individual, especially as it relates to using standard eating utensils for proper nutrition.
