Global goals
The LifeSense project provides a simplified smart system for monitoring vital signs in practical and easy-to-use ways. The team relied on programming sensors to virtually measure heart rate and blood oxygen level, with a dedicated interface designed to monitor the adult's condition. A manual input mechanism for sugar level was also added via a Joystick tool, allowing for additional user data entry. These readings are linked to a programmed board and a smart display screen that shows the results directly and clearly, in addition to a dual-color LED light that acts as a visual alarm: where the red color indicates danger or an abnormal reading, while the blue color reassures the user when indicators are stable. As for future development, the project includes creating an integrated application that collects and analyzes data and links it between the patient, the adult, and the medical staff. The bracelet will also feature a GPS function to locate the patient in emergency cases, in addition to a feature for sending notifications to remind of medication times. This step will contribute to saving the lives of many people, as statistics indicate that mortality rates before and after the device: Heart 19.8 million deaths, a decrease of ~13% (~2-3 million fewer deaths); Blood Pressure 7.5 million deaths, a decrease of ~20% (~1.5 million fewer deaths); Diabetes 3.4 million deaths, a decrease of ~20% (~0.7 million fewer deaths).
Currently, many individuals suffer from chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease, which require continuous and accurate monitoring of vital signs. However, most available medical devices are either expensive or complex for the average user. Also, the absence of regular check-ups often leads to the worsening of the disease or delayed medical intervention. This gap creates an urgent need for smart and simple tools that help monitor health daily. This is where the idea for the LifeSense project came from as a practical solution to this problem.
