Our project

Butterfly is an AI app + micro:bit project for people with autism to learn about the emotions they feel, how to manage them and express them. The app has the following main features:1. "Get Started with Communication" has different cartoons that express different emotions with a matching activity to learn about emotions. 2. "Detect Emotions": Shows videos of emotions and uses the micro:bit to discover emotions. The LED on the micro:bit helps simplify the user's information for more identifiable communication. 3. "Helper" a chatbot that helps the user identify the emotion they want to express and gives advice to help them communicate better. Learn more here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Owa2_k3XPok

Our inspiration

Currently, one in every hundred people has autism. One in 36 eight-year-old children is diagnosed with this disorder. According to the results of our survey, 80% of people say that their acquaintances with autism have difficulty with social interaction, followed by communication and regulating emotions. For all these people, we decided to create our application. To help them express their emotions and guide them to establish clearer communication with the support of a micro:bit that will simplify expressions for better understanding. We believe that it is a very important issue and that it is not given enough visibility.
