BotSona

BotSona

BotSona is a robot inspired by the legend of the Pink River Dolphin that protects marine life from the loud sounds of ships. It uses sensors and the micro:bit board to detect noises in the ocean and send alerts to navigators, helping to preserve the sound balance of the seas.

Our project

The BotSona project was born from the desire to protect marine animals from loud sounds that disrupt their communication and reproduction. Using the micro:bit board and sensors, we created a robot that functions as an active sonar. When it detects a very loud sound, it sends a radio signal to the micro:bit inside the ship's cabin, showing a sad face and emitting an alert sound. This way, the ship's captain knows they need to reduce the noise to avoid harming sea creatures. The programming was done with code blocks, and we also created a video that tells the origin and purpose of BotSona, relating the technology to the legend of the Pink River Dolphin, which protects the waters and their mysteries.

Our inspiration

The inspiration came from the legend of the Pink River Dolphin, which tells of a dolphin that transforms into a man to approach people and then returns to the depths of the waters. The story sparked curiosity about the behavior of real dolphins and how they use sounds to communicate. Upon discovering that ship noises disrupt marine life, the idea arose to create BotSona — an ocean sound guardian robot, which combines knowledge of nature with technology.
