Tech4Good Awards 2026
The Micro:bit Educational Foundation was a finalist in the Inclusive Education category at the AbilityNet Tech4Good Awards 2026. The Awards celebrate organisations leveraging technology to remove barriers and expand opportunities.
The submission covered the work carried out as part of Google's Blockly Accessibility Fund, to create keyboard navigation, and more recently - screen reader capabilities, within Makecode for micro:bit. Making block-based coding more accessible for learners with disabilities, such as fine motor difficulties or visual impairment. This initiative was made possible in partnership with Microsoft MakeCode and the Blockly team within the Raspberry Pi Foundation, tackling long-standing exclusion in computer science education.
