SDG 6 Clean Water and Sanitation

Our project

The solution lies in adopting a smart irrigation system that uses modern technology to manage the irrigation process efficiently. This system monitors soil moisture and plant water needs, and automatically adjusts irrigation times and quantities, which reduces waste and conserves water resources. In addition, the system contributes to increasing agricultural productivity and improving crop quality by providing them with appropriate amounts of water at the right time. Thus, smart irrigation is a practical and effective alternative to traditional methods, and helps achieve food security and agricultural sustainability.

Our inspiration

The main problem is that the agricultural sector in Iraq relies heavily on traditional, inefficient irrigation methods, leading to significant water waste and reduced agricultural productivity. With water scarcity and increasing effects of climate change, this waste threatens food security and makes it more difficult to meet the needs of the population. Therefore, there is an urgent need to adopt smart irrigation systems that reduce waste and ensure optimal water use.
