Careers at the Micro:bit Educational Foundation

Why work for us?

Our vision is to inspire every child to create their best digital future. We are enabling children around the world to get creative with technology and invent in school, in clubs and at home! The micro:bit is a handheld, fully programmable computer that was rolled out across the UK in 2016 - one micro:bit to every year 7. It’s 70 times smaller than the original BBC Micro computers used in schools in the early 1980s, and it has built-in sensors, an LED display and a Bluetooth radio, so it's instantly interactive. Started by the BBC and a great team of partners, the Micro:bit Educational Foundation is a non-profit organisation continuing the micro:bit programme and bringing it to schools and children around the world.

We are a small but ambitious team, who are passionate about bringing the joy of computer programming to every child on the planet. We are mostly a distributed team, but find meeting up in person socially, hugely valuable. Some roles may be based from our Oxford office and some are completely remote.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to inspire children around the world and are committed to building a team that reflects the diverse global community we serve. We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds as this strengthens our work and helps us achieve our mission.

We collaborate with people located across many time zones. The Foundation is a busy place to work but we are flexible. We are open to part time contracts and job shares.
