Our project

Healthy Littles is a science-based, kid-friendly health platform designed to help children build healthy habits through personalized learning, interactive games, and feedback. Originally created during the COVID-19 pandemic to teach kids about nutrition and exercise, the app has evolved into a powerful tool that supports children especially those at risk of or living with pediatric Type 2 diabetes.

Now integrated with SmartGenes, a wearable device powered by biosensors and AI, Healthy Littles collects real-time lifestyle data like movement, heart rate, and sleep to provide personalized recommendations based on each child’s Genetic Risk Score (GRS). This connected system not only teaches kids how to make smart choices, but also helps predict and prevent chronic diseases before they start.

Our inspiration

My inspiration was my personal journey. I first started this project when I was 7 years old, trying to help kids learn healthy habits during COVID through a fun and educational app. But everything changed when I lost my grandfather in 2022 to kidney failure caused by Type 2 diabetes. I felt helpless and it made me realize how serious and preventable this disease can be.

That moment inspired me to expand my idea into something much bigger, a full solution that doesn’t just treat diabetes but helps prevent it early, especially for children. Through years of research, I learned that most kids don’t even know they’re at risk. So I wanted to invent something that combines wearable tech, AI, and genetics to help kids take control of their health before it’s too late. That’s how Healthy Littles with SmartGenes was born — from a mix of passion, scientific research, and a mission to make a difference.
