Global goals

SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production

Our project

In this incredible week of the challenge, we created the "Green Light" project focused on SDG 12, where we seek to bring to our school colleagues and also to our families, the importance of using electricity consciously and creating sustainable consumption habits. It was a lot of fun to get our hands dirty and build our idea. We use low-cost materials such as cardboard and margarine cover for our fan propeller, we use simple led electrical circuits, 3v batteries, batteries, motor and alligator cable. We tested the best way to connect them and then built a very fun program in makecode. We really like to use animation in the LED matrix, the timer and the melody. It was sensational.

Our inspiration

We chose SDG 12 and are creating a simple and educational system that uses Micro :bit to raise awareness about the conscious consumption of electricity and promote sustainable habits. Because we realize that our classmates at school have difficulties turning things off before leaving. Lamps and fans are on for hours unnecessarily, consuming a lot of electricity. In this project, the Micro :bit works as a timer to monitor the time that electrical devices, such as lamps and fans, remain on.
After a predetermined time, Micro :bit displays the message "Power off" and plays a melody.
