Our project
We created the “Green Garden” project to reduce pollution in soil, air, and water. These types of pollution can harm human health and reduce biodiversity, especially due to the use of fossil fuels and pesticides in farming. We also want to support local farmers by helping them grow more crops.
The project uses the micro:bit, along with the Reka:bit board and G-robot. Sensors are connected to each other to control moisture and temperature in the soil. There is an automatic water pump system and a cover system that protects the garden from getting too wet when it rains. The garden also uses solar energy to power the system and has a security alarm.
We are very proud to have finished the “Green Garden” project. It helped us learn more about micro:bit and the Reka:bit extension board. We also learned about teamwork and cooperation. Most of all, we’re happy to do something small to save energy and protect the Earth.
Our inspiration
The “Green Garden” project was inspired by what we saw in our local area. Many farmers use too much pesticide and chemical fertilizer, which pollutes the soil and water, and also affects people’s health. At the same time, changing weather makes it hard for farmers to grow crops.
We wanted to use technology to help solve these problems. So, we learned about the micro:bit and smart sensors to build an automatic smart garden system.
