Our project

As a school our main issue at lunch time arises when children question 'Is the pitch dry enough for us to play on?'. As a result, this group were inspired to create a micro:bit code that would detect the moisture of the soil. The micro:bit would then send a message to the secretary's office which would inform her if the pitch was dry enough or too wet for students to play on. The secretary would then announce via the intercom the results of the soil samples. The group created a prototype of 'The Pitch' and the secretary's office as well as posters to explain their research and work carried out.

Our inspiration

This project aimed to keep the land protected around the school area when it was too wet for the traffic of students. Therefore we feel this project best meets the global goal of life on land.
