Our project
We created a prototype alert system that measures humidity levels in areas near the riverbank, and a water level sensor to monitor the river's height using micro:bit. The alert for a rising water level, such as 10 or 20 meters, triggers the placement of water containment blocks. The humidity alert in nearby areas indicates that it's time to evacuate. To generate a fund for the affected, the idea of creating a carnival museum was proposed.
Our inspiration
The theme that sparked this project is the flooding experienced this year by the residents of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and its impact on the potential rise of the Cuareim River's water level. Problems in our context: 100% of families report evacuating their homes at the last moment. Material losses are countless and difficult to overcome.
