Creative thinking, Problem solving, Team working
It is assumed students have first completed the Non-communicable disease challenge introductory lesson and are completing the Fitness Friend as an example resource before creating their own innovation. This is an introductory activity, so no prior knowledge of micro:bit is needed.
In this entry level activity, students create a ‘Fitness Friend’ wearable device to send a regular reminder to do some exercise. Depending on space available and mobility, this could be a reminder to simply ‘move’ every 25 minutes (as in the example), or do something specific like 10 jumping jacks or 10 arm raises every hour.
They learn core computational thinking concepts and are introduced to pseudocode, flowcharts, iteration, loops and input and output devices.
