micro:bit Live 2019
micro:bit Live 2019 is coming to BBC MediaCityUK, Greater Manchester, England on October 4-5. This will be the very first annual gathering of the global micro:bit community of educators and partners.
The Micro:bit Educational Foundation's mission is to inspire every child to create their best digital future. micro:bit Live 2019 is an opportunity for you to share the experiences, tips, and best practices that are helping to achieve that mission.
You'll discover the latest teaching and learning materials, as well as finding out what's new in hardware and software. Learn how micro:bit is being adopted around the world and hear how we're meeting the challenge of broadening participation in computing for all children.
Some of our Talks and Panel discussions will be available on live-stream. Come back on Friday 4 and Saturday 5 October to see what is going on.
General Release tickets will be released in three waves and announced via Twitter. You can view the ticket page at any time here, and even make a donation towards sponsoring local Salford Primary schools with micro:bit boards and resources. Thank you for your support.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Photographic ID must be presented when entering the BBC building on each day. Under 16's will not be permitted unless accompanied by an adult. Everybody attending requires a ticket. Unfortunately, there are no childcare facilities available.
What can I bring into the event?
You may bring a bag to the event, and you should consider bringing your own device if taking part in a workshop. Please be prepared for a security check upon entering the Quay House. There is no cloakroom or storage space at the Quay House. Please do not bring large bags or suitcases.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
There will be a guestlist at security, so please bring either a printed ticket or one that you have saved to your smart device. The name on the ticket must match your photographic ID. Everybody attending requires a ticket.
What’s included in my ticket?
- Friday 4 October
- Networking, Talks, Workshops, Panel Discussions and Poster Sessions. Lunch will be provided. An informal evening gathering with food, drink and live music will be held a separate venue in the Evening. Ticket holders will be emailed with details.
- Saturday 5 October

micro:bit Live 2019 will take place at Quay House, MediaCity UK, Salford Quays, Salford, M50 2QH
Manchester is easily accessible by road and rail. There are regular trains from London to Manchester Piccadilly.
Quay House, in MediaCity is easily accessible by tram from Manchester. Take the Blue Line towards MediaCity. Your stop is at the end of the line and the building is less than one-minute walk from the tram stop.
Please note, there is no car parking on site at the majority of BBC buildings. Please arrange your car parking in advance.
Staying in Salford
If you are planning to stay in Manchester/Salford, please arrange accommodation. There are a range of hotels to suit every budget surrounding Media City.
What should I wear?
The micro:bit Live 2019 event is a casual and relaxed event, wear comfortable clothes or whatever makes you happy. There is no dress-code.
As the event is taking place in the UK in October, please be prepared for cold, and wet weather. A warm coat or raincoat and comfortable shoes.
