Coding isn't just about going to a computing class! The micro:bit has projects that are great for all subjects including Design Technology, Physics and Art and Music classes.

Although we started in the UK, the micro:bit is now available in class rooms across the world. As new research from different places is available it will be published here.

UK Research Findings

As part of giving up to one million BBC micro:bits for free to every year 7 student in England and Wales, year 8 student in Northern Ireland and S1 student in Scotland the BBC also commissioned an impact study and found that... [BBC]:

  • 90% van de studenten vertelde dat de micro:bit laat zien dan iedereen kan programmeren.
  • 86% van de studenten zeiden dat micro:bit computerwetenschappen interessanter maakt.
  • 70% van de meisjes zei dat ze computerwetenschappen als een schoolvak zouden kiezen na het gebruik van de micro:bit.
  • 85% van de leerkrachten beamen dat het de ICT/computerwetenschappen voor de studenten leuker maakt.
  • De helft van de leerkrachten die de micro:bit gebruiken zeggen dat ze nu meer vertrouwen hebben als leraar, vooral degenen die minder zelfzeker zijn in het geven van computerwetenschappen.
